The Filipino Student Association (FSA) is dedicated to promoting the Filipino culture to the University of North Florida campus community and beyond, while providing an atmosphere of academic success and social well-being for its members.

Officer Meeting

September 23rd, 2006

2:01 PM – Meeting started

2:03 PM – Overview of the First General Meeting

2:04 PM – Ate/Kuya program review

  • Small group of members signed up
  • Review the volunteers’ and officers’ grade levels
  • More younger students than older students
  • Randomize the order of picking Ate/Kuya

2:10 PM – FSA T-shirts

  • Pre-shrunk cotton t-shirts
    • T-shirt choices
      • Regular t-shirt
      • Baseball tee
      • Soccer tee
      • Football tee

2:16 PM – Rescheduled BBQ to next week

  • Saturday September 30th – location and time TBA

2:18 PM – Halloween Horror Nights sign-up

  • Still planning this event
  • 14 people signed up
  • Get information on a possibly group price

2:21 PM – Adobo Bowl – November 4th

  • Possible deadline for sign-up

2:25 PM – Decisions for FSA need to be made as a cabinet decision

  • All officers must have a vote in the decision

2:32 PM – Proposed Thanksgiving Dinner/Dance?

  • Tentative date – Saturday November 18th
  • To be held at school to be able to get funding
    • To be possibly catered by Publix
  • Need to get an estimate of supplies
  • DJ?
  • Have a canned food/supply drive at the event
    • Donate clothes
    • Canned food drive
    • Ship supplies to the Philipines

2:36 PM – Vote on upcoming events

  • Option 1 – Cancel Halloween party and have a Thanksgiving party
  • Option 2 – To have the Halloween party still
  • Option 3 – To have both parties

  • Option 1 – won with a unanimous vote of 8

2:39 PM – Community Service

  • St. Francis Sop Kitchen
  • To get involved with local churches to help with their community service projects

2:42 PM – Things to do recap

  • Get information on the Thanksgiving event on Nov. 18th
  • Reserve room for the event
  • Get all supplies need for the event

2:47 PM – Welcome BBQ

  • Back up location – Hannah Park

2:50 PM – Decided on meeting schedule

  • Once a month – general meetings
  • Twice a month – officers meetings

2:53 PM – After Christmas break:

  • First meeting to be held as soon as possible in January
    • Start Worldfest practicing as soon as possible
      • Plan to showcase another Filipino dance and work on choreographing it for Worldfest

3:00 PM – Find out the requirements for the aspects of Worldfest performances
