Mission Statement

The Filipino Student Association (FSA) is dedicated to promoting the Filipino culture to the University of North Florida campus community and beyond, while providing an atmosphere of academic success and social well-being for its members.

7:08 PM - Welcome to our first general meeting

  • Great turnout – 40 members

7:09 PM – Introduction of Officers

7:11 PM – Membership

  • Do not have to be Filipino to join
  • Must be a UNF student
  • Dues - $5 per year to be consider an active member status
  • Elections to be held in March or April

7:13 PM – Recruiting

  • We could use your help to bring in more members
    • tell your friend and spread the word about FSA!

7:15 PM – Ate/Kuya Program

  • New program starting up this year
  • Sign-up for Ate/Kuya program after the meeting
  • Planned events
    • Ate/Kuya Hangout Day
    • Ate/Kuya Game Day

7:17 PM – FSA T-shirts

  • Pay for our own shirts to avoid the “funded by UNF SG” saying
  • Sign-up for t-shirts after the meeting
  • The t-shirt design and the web banner design will be the same image

7:18 PM – Scholarship Opportunities

  • Available through the Intercultural Center for PEACE

7:19 PM – Upcoming events

  • To be posted on the website
    • Halloween Horrors Nights – Saturday Oct. 14th
    • Sign-up if interested
    • Def Talent Jam – Saturday Nov. 4th in Gainsville
      • Sponsored by UF FSA at the Venue
    • Halloween Party/Cookout – still planning
    • In the Quad
    • End of October (Filipino Heritage Month)

7:22 PM – Community Service event

  • Still planning

7:23 PM – Invited to events

  • Coggin College of Business on Tuesday Sept. 26th from 11:30 – 1:30p.m.
  • Late Night Breakfast – Thursday Sept. 21 at midnight on the Green

7:24 PM – BBQ at Lesley’s

  • Get-to-know each other event
  • Will happen depending on if there is enough interest

7:27 PM – Worldfest

  • Intercultural Center for PEACE event
    • Many different cultures are represented
    • This event is held during April
    • Planning on doing the Tinikling dance from last year
    • Planning to add a new Filipino dance
