Delta Gamma offers to women of all ages a rich heritage based on principles of personal integrity, personal responsibility and intellectual honesty. Its primary purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests, create a true sense of social responsibility, and develop the finest qualities of character.

Delta Gammas give more than 90,000 hours a year in volunteer service in a variety of ways to their communities. However, the work of the Foundation extends beyond service. Locally, the Eta Delta Chapter contributes to Service for Sight through many activities including: Anchor Splash® and Anchor Slam® volunteering at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, and local eye screenings and awareness.

The Foundation is governed by the Delta Gamma Foundation Constitution and Articles of Incorporation, the Convention and the Foundation Board of Trustees.
The work of the Foundation is financed by gifts from collegiate chapters, alumnae groups, individual members and their friends/relatives, other foundations, Foundation fund raising, investment income and Fraternity allocations authorized by
the Board of Trustees.

The Eta Delta Chapter of Delta Gamma was formed in the Spring of 1999. A sorority interest group of women had already shown interest that they wanted to bring on a greek letter sorority. In spring of 1999, Delta Gamma was one of four groups to express interest in coming to UNF. Delta Gamma was voted on unanimously. In Delta Gamma’s first formal recruitment in fall of 1999, 51 new women were welcomed to Delta Gamma.

Today our chapter holds 90 active initiated women and has initiated a total 292 women. Eta Delta has been honored with many awards some of which are:

Our Three Founders: Mary Comfort Leonard, Eva Webb Dodd and Anna Boyd Ellington - The trio grew up together in Kosciusko, Mississippi, attended the Lewis School for Girls in Oxford, Mississippi and founded Delta Gamma during a lonely Christmas holiday. Anna and Eva were first cousins and Anna and Mary shared the same birthday. Each of the three Founders was a woman of strong character and special talents. Their biographical sketches, taken from the ANCHORA, winter 1955, give a glimpse into history that remains alive today through the legacy of Delta Gamma.
