From before I can remember, I have always been fascinated with how goods and people are transported across the country and the world by rail, ships, trucks and planes. I came into UNF as a Management major and later came to find out about the Transportation and Logistics program here at UNF, which I felt was more of the right path for me. I then decided to double major in both Management and Logistics. I decided to join APICS as a networking medium and for professional development.
I volunteered at a regional meeting event in downtown Jacksonville and found everyone to be supportive and insightful in the operations and supply chain field. I established some great networks both locally and nationally, which was very rewarding. APICS also offers several professional certifications that I will pursue in the near future. I look forward to assisting the UNF chapter of APICS gain more recognition and increase membership to this great organization. I will graduate with a Bachelors in Logistics and Management in the Spring of 2010 and look forward to a successful and rewarding career in this field.

A little about me: I graduated from High School in 1992. I then spent the
next 3 years in college at the University of Central Florida. At the
beginning of my Junior year I realized I was a very good salesperson and
subsequently dropped out of college and worked in various sales jobs for the
better part of the next 14 years. I got married in 2000 to the PERFECT
woman and we have 2 beautiful children. In late 2008 I was laid off from my
job and at that point I realized that I was not very good at juggling the
stresses of sales and family. I decided to return to school to pursue a
degree in a field that interests me and pays what I am worth (wait that's
impossible I am priceless).
I also own two small home businesses, one is a boutique line of baby clothes
and accessories called Board Sports Baby, the other is a custom surfboard
manufacturing company call LakotaRain Surfboards.
Reason for Interest in Apics: One of the positions I held in the past was
as an Operations Manager. I enjoyed the challenge of forecasting and the all around operations duties. I am also looking forward to the networking opportunities.

Growing up in Germany has not only provided me with the additional language skills I have today, but has also made me aware as to how big the world really is. Therefore, my biggest passion in life is traveling and learning about new cultures. I am an International Business and Management major at the Coggin College of Business graduating in the spring of 2010. After graduating, I hope to be accepted into the Global MBA program at UNF to further my education and also see more of the world. For the spring semester I will be the Treasurer of APICS and look forward to a great semester of tours, meetings and networking in the operations management network.
I'm currently a full-time student at UNF, majoring in international business and minoring in Spanish. I plan on traveling to London, England some time after graduating to pursue a master's in economics at a university there. I still have a while to go at UNF, but participating in my classes, in clubs, and social events keeps my schedule pretty busy. I'm also working at the puppy store at the Avenues Mall, so I do sell puppies for a living. I also run, read, and watch movies on my free time.
Originally from the Bahamas, I moved to Jacksonville, Florida two years ago to attend U.N.F. I'm currently a senior majoring in Business Managementwith minors in International Business and Finance. As I continue in my studies, I find myself more and more intrigued with how companies organize and control their business activiti es to ensure both efficient and effective delivery of products and goods to their consumers. This interest has led me to join UNF APICS chapter because it provides students with the opportunity to learn more about production operations through tours, professional events, certifications and a number of additional resources. I 'i m presently serving as the secretar y for APICS and I look forward to the great things to come this semester.
I have always loved being in charge and knowing the big picture was more important then the small pieces. I served in the military, took 4 years and 4 schools to get my 2 year degree, and consider my greatest accomplishment to be my 4 year old son. I love APICS because it gives the opportunity to grow as a professional while encouraging lasting friendships that are so rewarding. I will graduate in the Summer 2010 with a T&L Bachelors degree.
