Alpha
Chi Omega Foundation Mission Statement
"The
Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports the
educational and philanthropic purposes of
Alpha Chi Omega through effective fundraising
and stewardship of financial resources". |
Alpha Chi Omega Foundation
This is Alpha Chi's #1 philanthropy. The Foundation
supports worthwhile philanthropies in the name
of Alpha Chi Omega. Talking About Alcohol and
Kristin’s Story are a few of the Foundation
funded programs offered to members of Alpha Chi
Omega. The Foundation also helps fund the philanthropies
below.
Victims of Domestic Violence
This Foundation supports educational programs
for victims of domestic violence as well as hands-on
support at the local community level where personal
involvement can make a difference. Grants go to
various agencies providing services to victims
as well as to provide development and implementation
of educational programs for members.
Easter Seal
Easter Seals provides services to children and
adults with disabilities and other special needs,
and support to their families. Annual contributions
are made by the Foundation to the National Easter
Seal Society to provide specially
designed car seats to children with special needs.
The MacDowell Colony
Located in Peterborough, New Hampshire, was Alpha
Chi Omega’s first altruistic project, many
years ago, and upholds our tradition of excellence
in the fine arts. The MacDowell Colony provides
a place where creative artists can find freedom
to concentrate on their work. One of the studios,
Star Studio, was built in 1911 with funds from
the Fraternity and has been maintained ever since
that time. You can visit their website at www.macdowellcolony.org
Locally The Hubbard House
The Hubbard House offers emergency shelter for
women and children. Other services include a 24-hour
hotline, counseling, outreach and legal referral.
The Jacksonville shelter includes 85 beds with
24-hour check-in services. Designed and built
as a "home-away-from- home," the Hubbard
House can help restore a sense of calm during
troubled times of illness or injury. Our chapter
donates clothing, food items, etc on a regular
basis and puts together multiple fundraisers throughout
the year.
Take Back The Night
Take Back the Night is an international rally
and march that is organized in local communities
with the purpose of unifying women, men, and children
in an awareness of violence against women, children
and families. The event is a collaboration of
community and campus and other interested persons
who are ready to take a stand against violence
and make the night safe for everyone. It is an
event over twenty years old to protest sexual
assault and domestic violence and to reclaim the
night from those who have made it unsafe for women.
Our entire Chapter attends this event every fall
at the Jacksonville Landing.
