Required Application Materials for US Applicants
The University of North Florida offers a large and diverse array of graduate degrees. This step-by-step guide will help you complete the application for admission.
We strongly encourage you to contact the Graduate Advisor of the degree program in which you are interested. Feel free to do so at any time during and even before you begin the application process.
Applicants who are not U.S. citizens or are not permanent residents of the U.S. should check the international applicants page on our website.
The Graduate School strongly encourages you to submit all application materials together in one packet. We cannot refer your application for review until all materials have been received. Please read below for more detailed instructions.

STEP ONE: Application and Application Fee
All graduate applicants must complete and submit either a printed application form or an online application. Post-baccalaureate and non-degree seeking students must submit the paper application. The non-refundable application fee is $30.00 (check or money order) drawn from a U.S. bank. If the application is submitted online, the non-refundable application fee may be paid by credit card. If you applied online and were unable to pay the application fee, you may send a check made out to UNF for $30 to the Graduate School's address listed above.
If you are a former or current UNF student, please fill out the Graduate Student Update Form. Please do not fill out the online application. Doing so can result in a delay of your application.
If you have changed your name (due to marriage or name change), please ensure that all forms of your past and current name are listed on your application. Failure to do so can result in a delay of your application.
STEP TWO: Official College Transcripts
All graduate applicants must provide evidence, in the form of official transcripts, of an earned baccalaureate degree from an approved college or university. An approved college or university is one that has candidacy or membership status with the appropriate regional accrediting agency, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Students should submit one official hard copy of their transcripts to the Graduate School by the posted deadline. You are required to provide official transcripts from each institution attended, regardless if a transcript shows courses from another university. Transcripts must be less than one year old from the date of printing. Transcripts that are more than one year old will be counted as an unofficial transcript and the applicant will need to request another transcript from the university. Former UNF students will not need to request transcripts unless they have attended an institution since leaving UNF.
***Please note that we are unable to accept electronic transcripts.
Students with degrees earned from institutions outside the United States are required to provide a course-by-course transcript evaluation in addition to their official transcripts. More information about the evaluation may be found on the International Applicants page.
STEP THREE: GRE and GMAT Test Scores
Students must provide official scores from the appropriate aptitude test. UNF's Institution Code for the GRE exam is 5490. The code for the GMAT exam is CF3QB51. There are no departmental codes.
Students applying for programs in the Coggin College of Business (CCB) must provide official scores from the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
Applicants for all other graduate programs should provide official scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test. The GRE is required regardless of a student’s undergraduate GPA.
***Please note that it takes 3-4 weeks for official test scores to arrive to the Graduate School. These scores must be received before the posted deadline of the program to which you are applying. However, you may report your unofficial scores to the Graduate School immediately after taking the test. You may call, email, or drop off your self-reported scores if you are concerned that the official scores may arrive past the posted deadline.
Selected programs exempt students with an earned graduate or professional degree from submitting GRE scores. For more information, please contact the Graduate School.
To schedule a GRE test at UNF, contact the Office of Academic Testing at 620-1973.
The UNF Division of Continuing Education offers GRE and GMAT prep courses throughout the year. More information about the dates and times of these courses can be found here. Test preparation books are also available at the UNF Library and Bookstore.
STEP FOUR: Supplemental Materials
Many programs require letters of recommendation, personal statements, or writing samples to supplement the application. A list of the requirements for each program can be found here. With your supplemental materials, please do not staple, use page protectors, binders, folders, or three-ring binders. Please send all materials loose. If you already have a student ID number (an "N Number"), please write this at the top right hand corner of every page. If you do not have a student ID number, please ensure that your name is on every page of your application materials.
