Master of Health Administration

Program Overview The Master of Health Administration (M.H.A.) is designed to meet the educational needs of men and women interested in assuming administrative and management positions in the health care industry.  The M.H.A. is a 54 (minimum) credit degree program that consists of 9 hours of business/administrative core course work and 42 - 45 hours in College of Health core courses which include 3 - 9 hours in either a thesis or practicum.  There are also 3 hours of electives.

Admission Requirements

1. A résumé (indicating education and work background; honors; memberships in professional, school, and service organizations; etc.).
2. A personal statement (a brief essay outlining your reasons for wanting to pursue graduate education in health administration, career objectives, and any other information you would want the Admission Committee to know about you).
3. Two letters of recommendation on provided forms.
4. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in this country or a recognized university abroad.  Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average in all undergraduate upper division work.
5. A composite score of 1000 or more on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GRE taken within the last two years, or
6. A GMAT score taken within the last two years with a minimum of 20 on the verbal portion and 22 on the quantitative portion.

Community Connections UNF's MHA program has the distinct advantage of being located in a area with a large, vibrant health care community. Eleven hospitals, over 50 skilled nursing facilities, several large medical group practices, including the Mayo Clinic, and a large military outpatient clinic are easily accessible from UNF's Campus. Additionally, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and other major insurers are located in Jacksonville. These organizations provide educational and employment opportunities for students and graduates. Leaders from the local healthcare community serve on the program Advisory Board and contribute time and resources to the MHA program.
