The University of North Florida is located very close to the center of the greater Jacksonville area. Fourteen miles from downtown Jacksonville, 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean (and great beaches, some suitable for surving), 20 miles from the Jacksonville International Airport, 40 miles from the Georgia border, and 35 miles from the country's oldest city, St. Augustine, UNF is in the heart of a vibrant and growing urban area embraced by thousands of acres of "greenway," massive estuarine areas, the Atlantic, and a National Heritage River—the St. Johns.
