Financial Aid
There are several types of financial aid including subsidized and unsubsidized loans, graduate teaching assistantships, graduate research assistantships, tuition waivers, and scholarships. Graduate students are welcome to apply for any funding for which they feel qualified. To be awarded graduate financial aid, a student must be accepted into a graduate degree-seeking major by the Graduate School.
Assistantships and Scholarships
Graduate Assistantships
Each of UNF's five colleges offers graduate assistantships, graduate teaching assistantships and graduate research assistantships. Different programs have different assistantship opportunities and different compensation/stipend models. Graduate students who wish to apply for assistantships should contact the program director of the program in which they plan to enroll. The list of program directors and their email addresses is available here.
Tuition Waivers
Tuition waivers generally are offered in conjunction with assistantships. Tuition waivers cover some portion of the tuition costs the student bears; in many cases, master's-degree-pursuing graduate assistants may expect to have approximately half of their tuition waived. Students are responsible for the outstanding balance not covered by the waiver. Graduate students are encouraged to contact their program director for more information and to inquire about the possibility of acquiring such a waiver. Note that waivers are never offered in exchange for services; rather, they are offered to lend support to students who, by virtue of being graduate assistants, are pursuing full-time study in their disciplines.
Scholarship Opportunities
The Graduate School offers two scholarships. The Delores Auzenne Fellowship assists students from populations that are underrepresented in particular disciplines; this changes from year to year, as does the amount of funding available to an Auzenne Scholarship recipient. The Graduate Scholars Program offers aid to students who are pursing projects of their own initiation that contribute to their activity as scholars, for example, the presentation of a paper at a scholarly conference. These are one-time modest awards to cover costs associated with these sorts of scholarly activities.
Each of the University's five colleges offers graduate Scholarship opportunities as well:
Coggin College of Business Scholarships
College of Computing, Engineering and Construction Scholarships
College of Education and Human Services Scholarships

Student Loans
Student Loans
By far the most accessible form of funding for graduate students, subsidized and unsubsidized student loans are available from the One Stop Student Services office. Returning students must reapply for student loans each year. The FAFSA is available January 1 each year.
