April 9, 1990, the University of Iowa recognized Sigma Lambda Gamma as a
sorority. Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated is the largest
historically Latina based sorority with multicultural membership in chapters
and alumnae associations throughout the United States. Sigma Lambda Gamma
provides an avenue for educational excellence to women of many nationalities.
Our members recognize the need for togetherness and support among women of
varying cultures at the university level, and they remain dedicated to the
overall success of women in the global environment.
UNF entity of Sigma Lambda Gamma was founded by fourteen women of distinction
on December 16, 2011. On May 15, 2013 the UNF entity of Sigma Lambda Gamma
received chapter status and was named the “eXubErant” Xi Epsilon Chapter. Our
Founding Mothers broke the barriers of traditional sororities to create an
organization for women of every cultural and socio-economic background. The Xi
Epsilon chapter stays true to our founding mothers dreams and goals for Sigma
Lambda Gamma and strives to not only change the face of UNF but the
Jacksonville community as a whole.
Highest scoring chapter in the South East region and nation on the Standards of Distinction (out of 120 schools).
Officially chartered as the Xi Epsilon chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc.
