Sigma Chi is one of the largest and oldest all-male, college, Greek-letter social fraternities. Sigma Chi was founded on June 28, 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
The fraternity's official badge is a white cross of Gold.
The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance and accomplishment of the ideals of friendship, justice and learning within our membership.
In the pursuit of these high ideals, the Sigma Chi Fraternity is able to offer tremendous value in augmenting the collegiate experience and supporting the life journey of each of our members. We hope to assist brothers to become men of character, caring husbands, compassionate fathers, and community leaders.
On June 13th, 2005, Sigma Chi was the first Greek-letter society to be honored by the United States Congress for the fraternity's 150th anniversary.
Sigma Chi Creed
I believe in fairness, decency, and good manners. I will endeavor to retain the spirit of youth. I will try to make my college, the Sigma Chi Fraternity, and my own chapter more honored by all men and women and more beloved and honestly respected by our own brothers. I say these words in all sincerity; That Sigma Chi has given me favor and distinction; that the bond of our fellowship is reciprocal, that I will endeavor to so build myself and so conduct myself that I will ever be a credit to our Fraternity.
The Kappa Beta chapter of Sigma Chi was founded at the University
of North Florida on October 12th, 1991 making us the oldest and most
established chapter at UNF by nearly a decade. Since our founding, we’ve grown
into one of the most successful fraternities on campus. The fundamental
purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance and
accomplishment of the ideals of friendship, justice and learning within our
brotherhood. Our mission is to enhance our presence on campus and in the
community, and to enrich the lives of our brotherhood based on the ideals and
values of Sigma Chi. Not only are we one of the largest fraternities at UNF,
but we’re also the one of largest nationally and internationally, with over
300,000 initiates and chapters at over 240 campuses across North America.
Sigma Chi has been enjoying some great successes over the past few
years, bringing in another remarkable pledge class each semester. The
Kappa Beta chapter has won six chapter of the years in the past decade – no
other fraternity in UNF history has ever done that. We have the most leaders in
Student Government, Presidential Envoys, Dance Marathon, Interfraternity
Council, and many other departments at UNF.
