Padamaran Estate

Upriver from the Fairlamb and Philpott properties a 10,000-acre tract was granted to Jacob Wilkerson, also a London merchant. Wilkerson's Padamaran Estate was developed prior to the American Revolution. The few records that exist are nearly illegible, yet they establish that Wilkerson hired Alexander Gray to supervise startup operations at Padamaran, and that the estate was destroyed in 1776, and again in 1778, by raiders from Georgia. On a modern map, Padamaran Estate can be found along the St. Johns River at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station.
