John Bell

South of the Moira tract, John Bell received a grant of 2,000 acres bounding east on the St. Johns River. Bell had been an overseer in Georgetown, South Carolina, employed by the leading rice planter in the area, Francis Kinloch. Immediately south of Bell 's tract were grants surveyed for Dr. Robert Catherwood and the London merchant, John Tucker.
