Bridging the Performing Arts and Healthcare

The UNF Fine Arts Center was invited to join a statewide initiative for 2006-07 via a Challenge Grant funded by the Florida Division of Cultural affairs to seed new working partnerships in five Florida cities: Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami, Tallahassee and Tampa. This initiative is an outreach of the pilot program of AIM Together at Shands Hospitals and Clinics in Gainesville and the University of Florida Performing Arts Center.

The UNF Fine Arts Center is proud to partner with Mayo Clinic, Shands Jacksonville and the Wolfson Children’s Hospital to:

  • Bring world-class professional arts performances to healthcare settings;
  • Provide people living with illness, disability and socio-economic challenges with opportunities to discover and explore creative and artistic abilities;
  • Serve as a model for excellence in accessible arts programming for underserved audiences and for partnerships between the performing arts and healthcare; and
  • Build arts audiences and facilitate meaningful arts experiences for national touring artists and for hospital patients, visitors and staff.
