WELCOME TO THE HISPANIC COUNCIL WEB-PAGE

The Hispanic Council was established in January of 2001, bringing together faculty and staff with the common interest of promoting Hispanic culture on campus and in the Jacksonville area. Very soon we realized that our focus would be on our students and that we would work, simultaneously, in two directions: on one hand, we wanted to reach out to our Hispanic students, serve them, make them feel at home during their stay at UNF; on the other hand, we desired to reach the non-Hispanic students and to convey to them the importance of understanding and appreciating Hispanic culture.

As soon as these two objectives were established, the projects we were to work on were fairly simple to design, although not necessarily easy to put into practice. You will find a description of these projects as you browse through our page.

In the short span of time we have been together, we have come to realize, with satisfaction, that we are not alone. A large amount of interest from the UNF community has stimulated us to work even harder. We thank all who are interested in cooperating, in one way or another.

The Hispanic Council welcomes UNF faculty and staff who understand the necessity of furthering commitment to diversity and multiculturalism, and particularly to promoting appreciation for Hispanic culture.

Jose Angeles, President.
