Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers Needed for RecycleMania

The Environmental Center is looking for volunteers to help plan, organize and execute the 2014 RecycleMania recycling competition. RecycleMania is a intercollegiate competition between universities nationwide. The Environmental Center is organizing a number of events to help reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills by UNF and to educate the UNF community about waste reduction. Please contact James Taylor for more information.

UNF Garden

Are you interested in organic gardening? Come join the team and help build, cultivate and maintain our beautiful garden. Adopt your own garden bed and feel the thrill of accomplishment and satisfaction as you watch your work turn into healthy foods you can eat. During volunteer hours, UNF students from all over campus come together to work in the dirt, build planters and other structures, till, weed and water the rows and hang out with nature.

Volunteer hours are Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Volunteers should dress appropriately, wear something you won't mind getting dirty and sturdy shoes or boots. We can supply gloves, or you can bring your own if you prefer. The UNF Ogier Gardens can be found next to the Skate Park and Lot 18.

For more information about volunteering, please e-mail Kevin Anderson, or click here.

Sierra Club Needs Volunteers

Are you passionate about Florida’s natural beauty? Then the Sierra Club is looking for you! The Sierra Club Northeast Florida Group is looking for passionate students to help further their mission to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. The group is looking for motivated volunteers to help with the Florida Land and Water Legacy campaign, which will reestablish permanent conservation funding. In addition, they have a limited number of leadership positions within the group. These positions are open to students of all majors and are a great way to become involved in the community and build your resume. Interested volunteers should contact James Taylor, UNF Environmental Center coordinator.
