our end-of-semester textbook collection, we collected 475 pounds of
books. These books will not only be kept out of the landfill, but they will be
used to help fund literacy programs around the world. Thank you to everyone
who donated books. If you did not have a chace to donate earlier, you can still donate books any time at our office
in building 1, J.J. Daniels Hall, room 2200.
The annual RecycleMania intercollegiate competition is right around the corner, and we need your help! The Environmental Center needs help planning events for RecycleMania and volunteers to help with a variety of projects, including promotional tabling, chalking,and “caught green-handed” (details about this will be provided at the meeting).
We will be hosting an informational planning meeting regarding RecycleMania at 5p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the Student Union, Rm 3602. This will be a great opportunity for those interested in leadership positions within the Environmental Center. All interested in volunteering or planning are encouraged to attend. Free food will be provided.

Sierra Club Outing at the Sawmill Slough Preserve

The Sierra Club Northeast Florida Group is hosting an outing on the Robert W. Loftin nature trails in the Sawmill Slough Preserve located on the University of North Florida campus. On the two-hour hike, you will see the lovely vistas that abound in this special natural area, including gopher tortoise nests. This trip is open to the public. Parking permits are not required on the weekends.

The US Green Building Council North Florida Chapter
will be hosting a chapter-wide social at Aardwolf Brewery in San Marco. Have a beer, eat an awesome dinner from a local food truck, network and learn more about being green. UNF IB Conference

close interaction among researchers and practitioners. Research,
research-in-progress papers and proposals for panel discussions,
workshops and tutorials from all areas of business are invited for

Volunteers Needed for RecycleMania
The Environmental Center is looking for volunteers to help plan, organize and execute the 2014 RecycleMania recycling competition. RecycleMania is a intercollegiate competition between universities nationwide. The Environmental Center is organizing a number of events to help reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills by UNF and to educate the UNF community about waste reduction. Sierra Club Needs Volunteers
Are you passionate about Florida’s natural beauty? Then the Sierra Club is looking for you! The Sierra Club Northeast Florida Group is looking for passionate students to help further their mission to explore, enjoy and protect the planet. The group is looking for motivated volunteers to help with the Florida Land and Water Legacy campaign, which will reestablish permanent conservation funding. In addition, they have a limited number of leadership positions within the group. These positions are open to students of all majors and are a great way to become involved in the community and build your resume. Seaton Creek Preserve Trail Maintenance

Seaton Creek Historic Preserve is one of Jacksonville's newest parks. The 847-acre preserve will open to the public later this year. In order to prepare the park for opening, volunteers are needed to assist with trail development and other park improvements. Enjoy this opportunity to spend a day breathing in the fresh air and experiencing the parl's natural beauty while honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
