Three prominent business leaders and a UNF professor were named last month as recipients of the annual Prime F. Osborn III Distinguished Business Leaders Award.
Presented with awards were: Dr. Gary R. Fane, professor and chair of the Accounting and Finance Department in the Coggin College of Business; Janie S. McLure, president and chief executive of McLure Oil Co. in Atlanta and a 1977 graduate of UNF's Coggin College of Business; Frederick H. Schultz, area investment banker and venture capitalist; and David A. Stein, chairman and CEO of Southern Industrial Corp. of Jacksonville.
The Coggin College of Business annually honors business executives for their long-term career achievements in providing leadership in both business and the community.
The awards are named for the late Prime F. Osborn III, who was one of Jacksonville's most prominent business leaders and served as chairman of the board of CSX Corp. from its inception until 1982.
Dr. Earle Traynham, dean of the Coggin College of Business, said he was pleased to recognize their accomplishments.
"Each of our Prime Award winners has achieved significant success in business, and also embodies the enduring characteristics of integrity, strong ethical values and character that make them excellent role models for us all, whether we are in business or teach business."
