1. Why did I receive an email requesting that I contact your office?


Your name was listed in a report from any of the following agencies/groups (list is not all inclusive):


  1. Residence Life;

  2. Information Technology Services;

  3. University Police;

  4. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office or any other national policing agency;

  5. Written communication with an official at the University of North Florida or;

  6. A student or victim informed our office of the need to speak with you.



  1. 2.How do I go about scheduling a Conduct Review with your office?


You may email us at universityconduct@unf.edu to schedule. Please let us know what day during the week is best for your schedule and several times you can meet. This will cut down on the amount of email tagging.



  1. 3.Can I proceed directly to a Hearing?


If you decide to have an Administrative Hearing, you may let us know at the time of your Conduct Review Appointment. Please keep in mind that the office must approve of your request.



  1. 4.Can I bring an attorney with me to the Conduct Review and the Hearing?


This is not court of law. An attorney will not be recognized as such. However, you may bring anyone you wish that you would like to appointment as an advisor. You are required to inform the office of the person’s name 48 hours prior to your Conduct Review/Hearing.



  1. 5.Am I allowed to bring witnesses to my Hearing?


Yes, however, we require that you advise the office of their following information at least 48 prior to your Hearing: First Name, Last Name, and Contact Phone Number and E-mail Address (if available).



  1. 6.Are you going to contact my parent or guardian?


In some cases, this office is allowed to contact a parent or guardian. Some cases include (list is not all inclusive):


  1. An incident involved alcohol

  2. An incident involved legal drugs

  3. An incident involved illegal drugs

  4. An incident included one of or all of the above.

  1. 7.Following the Hearing, how long should I wait before a decision is rendered on my case?


Fourteen (14) class days (Including Summer Term class days)



  1. 8.Can I appeal the decision that has been made on my case?


Yes, however, the request must be made within 5 class days of the original outcome letter being delivered to your UNF student e-mail. This is a strict time limit and no appeals will be heard following the five class days expiring.



  1. 9.I have a hold from University Conduct on my account that is preventing me from altering anything in regards to my student account. What can I do?


  1. If you did not schedule or attend your Conduct Review, you must attend your Hearing to have the hold lifted.

  2. If you have not turned in a sanction which requires submitting a paper, you must complete this and await review of said sanction after it has been turned in.

  3. If you did not complete volunteer service hours or community service hours, you must turn these in and await verification of these hours. (This can take up to 48 hours typically.)

  4. If you have missed a session with Health Promotions relating to Intervention, you must successfully attend and complete one session before your hold will be lifted.

  5. If you have not submitted proof of payment for restitution, you must do so before your hold will be lifted.

  6. Any other scenarios, please feel free to contact us so that we may advise what sanctions have not yet been completed. Following completion of sanctions, your hold will be lifted.


  1. 10.What are the possible sanctions if found responsible for violating the Student Conduct Code?

Counseling Assessment and Compliance

Health Promotion for alcohol and/or drug education and assessment

Restitution

Disciplinary Probation
