College Level Academic Skills (CLAS) Requirement
Requirements for earning an Associate of Arts or Bachelor Degree on or after July 1, 2009:
The College-Level Academic Skills (CLAS) requirement must be satisfied in order to be awarded an Associate of Arts or Bachelor degree. Effective July 1, 2009, CLAST will no longer be an available means to satisfy the requirement. The CLAS requirement can be satisfied by meeting the current CLAST exemption requirements.
In order to be awarded an Associate of Arts or Bachelor Degree on or after July 1, 2009, students will:

Need to present passing scores on CLAST. Future administrations of CLAST are not authorized or funded by the State of Florida or Department of Education after June 30, 2009. | |

Need to meet one of the following requirements in addition to successfully fulfilling other current degree requirements in place: | |
1. |
Achieve a score that meets or exceeds a minimum score on a nationally standardized examination (SAT or ACT); OR | |
2. |
Demonstrate successful remediation of any academic deficiencies and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale in selected college-level coursework identified by the State Board of Education in conjunction with the Board of Governors. Need to request a waiver to the above requirements for students with documented specific learning disabilities and other extenuating circumstances, under criteria very similar to those previously in place under Florida Statute 1008.29. New waiver information is pending. | |
