Workshop 1: Speed Networking

(Repeated morning and afternoon)

How many times have you heard the statement “It’s not WHAT you know, but WHO you know”? Survey results indicate that many college graduates feel that the greatest benefit of their college years was the expansion of their social horizons—the personal growth that results from meeting new people and sharing new experiences. Many report that they were aided in finding the job they wanted or in the advancement of their career by help they got from contacts made during their college years. Join us to learn the basics of networking from an expert and then practice this exciting and life-changing talent in a safe, totally creative and fun environment.

In addition to serving as CEO of Improv! Corporate Workshops, John has been a corporate consultant for twelve years in process management, business strategy and organizational development. Workshop 2: A View from the Top: Executive Panel

Leadership and management: how do they differ? How have the challenges of running a business during tough economic times impacted the answers to questions that leaders ask themselves everyday: How do I inspire and motivate my employees? How do I build trust with my employees, investors and customers? How can I lead with empathy so my employees feel valued, inspired and committed to their work? How can I encourage my employees to take the right risks? How can I build a culture of innovation? How can I handle challenges to my leadership? Hear top executives from the Jacksonville business community share their views and experience in leading their organizations during these turbulent economic times.

Her successes as Director of UNF’s Honors Program in the 1990s were the direct result of turning power and responsibility over to students who ran Honors Orientation, facilitated service learning classes, and helped administer the program.

Workshop 3: Transformational Leadership

How Leaders Talk Values

What leaders believe is central to who they are and how they influence others. Leaders know what matters and showcase it “front and center” in the values that frame their goals and actions. Using a process known as “World Café,” this stimulating and interactive session will engage student-leaders in dynamics of "values-talk;" In particular, we will look at UNF’s six core values, how they may be interpreted, and how they can be more effectively integrated across our university community.

Facilitator: John Frank currently serves as Chair of the UNF Values Integration Task Force (VITF). Outside UNF, Dr. Frank is an organizational development consultant to progressive nonprofit organizations, providing a variety of services including strategic planning, leadership development, team building, and design and facilitation of dialogue processes that advance adult learning in the workplace and civil society.
