Scholarships
UNF Campus ImageThe Undergraduate Academic Enrichment Program assists talented students in securing prestigious national and international scholarships and fellowships. Most of the scholarships and fellowships provide financial support for graduate study; however, a few provide support for the last two years of undergraduate study and for study abroad. The office provides mentoring, counseling, coaching, and editing to help students improve their chances of obtaining these competitive scholarships.

Scholarships for Students Who Intend To Go Into Public Service

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to college students who have outstanding leadership potential, plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service, and wish to attend graduate school to help prepare for their careers. Up to 75 scholarships will be awarded to college juniors valued at $24,000 each. UNF can nominate only four students for this scholarship. If you would like to be considered as a UNF nominee, please fill out the UNF application by the deadline in October of each year.

Scholarships for Math and Science Graduate Education

The NSF Graduate Fellowship is given to college seniors who are planning to pursue doctoral studies in mathematics, the natural and social sciences, or engineering. Ford Foundation Fellowships are given to minority students who plan to pursue graduate study in the sciences, mathematics, engineering or medicine.

Scholarships for Math and Science Undergraduate Education

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarships are given out nationally to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue a research career in the sciences, mathematics or engineering

Scholarships for Graduate Study in Arts, Humanities, or Social Sciences

The Jacob K. Javits Fellowships are given to students who intend to undertake graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or the Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) at accredited institutions of higher education in selected fields of the arts, humanities, or social sciences.

Honor Society Scholarships

The Northeast Florida Alumni Association of Phi Beta Kappa Scholarships are cash awards given to students who attend one of the four year universities in the Northeast Florida region (Flagler, JU, UNF, and Edward Waters). Students must be juniors or seniors and must be majoring in one of the traditional arts and sciences disciplines. The deadline for these scholarships is usually in March. Call or e-mail Dr. Borg for an application. The Phi Kappa Phi and
Golden Key scholarships are available only to students who are members of these honor societies. They can be used for graduate or professional study in any discipline. Download the Northeast Florida Phi Beta Kappa Alumni scholarship application.

Scholarships for Graduate Study in Social Science Education

The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation awards fellowships each year to future and current secondary school teachers of American history, American government, and social studies in grades 7-12.

Scholarships for Environmental Education

The Morris K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation awards 55 scholarships to students who are pursuing careers related to environmental public policy or to Native American or Alaska Native students who are pursuing careers related to health care or tribal public policy.

Scholarships for Graduate Study Abroad

Created by the U.S. Congress in 1946, the Fulbright Program aims to foster mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchanges. Each year the program allows more than 800 Americans to study or conduct research in over 100 nations.
The Rotary Ambassadorial Academic Year Scholarship is sponsored by the Rotary Foundation to fund students who pursue a graduate degree at a university in a foreign country anywhere a Rotary club exists.


Scholarships for Undergraduate Study Abroad

The Rotary Ambassadorial Cultural Scholarship is sponsored by the Rotary Foundation to fund language study and an immersion experience in several countries around the world. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply.
The National Security Education Program Scholarships were designed to provide American undergraduates with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experience in countries and areas of the world critical to the future security of our nation. Students can apply for funding to support a summer, semester or year abroad.

Scholarships for Graduate Study in the United Kingdom

The BRITISH MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP is funded by the British government. It enables 40 Marshall Scholars to study for a graduate degree at any of the universities in the United Kingdom.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It funds 230 students from all over to world to study for a graduate degree at Cambridge University.

The Rhodes Scholarship was established in 1902 by the will of Cecil Rhodes. Thirty-two Rhodes Scholars from the U.S. are selected each year; they are appointed for two years of study in the University of Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for the third year.

Scholarships that Support Graduate Education in Any Discipline

The Paul and Daisy Soros New Americans Scholarships provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. Applicants for these scholarships must be children of immigrants or green-card holders. The scholarships support graduate or professional study in any field.

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarships
are awarded to 75 high-achieving, low- to moderate-income high school or college-age students. Each grant will total up to $150,000. The scholarships support graduate or professional study in any field.
