Advising

Freshman and Sophomore Advising

The staff in the UNF Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) provides professional academic advising for all students who have earned less than 60 semester hours of academic credit. The advisors have extensive experience at developing custom course schedules to accommodate the needs and abilities of individual students.

Careful selection and scheduling of courses are critical for
premedical students, especially during the first two years in college.
Most of the courses required for admission to medical professional
schools must be completed by the spring of the junior year to
properly prepare for admissions tests. Also, courses required to fulfill
the university's general education requirements are typically taken
during the freshman and sophomore years.
For additional information or to make an appointment, contact the
Center at (904) 620-1012.

College of Arts and Sciences Advising

Advisors in the College of Arts & Sciences Advising Office provide
professional academic advising for junior and senior students working
toward bachelors degrees in the college. The advisors are conversant
with baccalaureate degree requirements, have extensive knowledge
about the success of previous students in attempting various
combinations of science and mathematics courses, and are
experienced at developing custom course schedules. All
preprofessional students working toward a bachelors degree in the
College of Arts and Sciences are advised to keep in close contact
with college advisors to prevent delays in the completion of their
program of study.

For additional information or to make an appointment, contact the
Arts & Sciences Advising Office at (904) 620-2797.

Peer Advising

Upperclass students are available to guide premed students new to
UNF. New students may seek advice from their more experienced
peers on subjects such as choosing a medical profession,
coursework, study skills, test preparation (including preparation for
the MCAT, DAT, PCAT, etc.), professional school application
procedures, and how to establish a competitive record of
achievement during the undergraduate years.

Contact the PreMedical Professions Program Assistant or the
officers of the student clubs the PreMed Society or the UNF Chapter
of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) in the PreMed
Resource Center, building 3, room 2224.
