UNF has four wireless networks

UNF’s wireless network supports 802.11g technology and thus requires an 802.11g compliant wireless device.  UNF has four wireless networks. Make sure laptops and PDAs have an 802.11g wireless card if you plan to use UNF’s wireless network.

Networks available throughout the campus with the exception of the Residence Halls:

  • The “guest” network requires little configuration, is not secure, and will show up as “guest” on your computer’s wireless network list. The purpose of this wireless network is to reach the Internet.
  • The “unf-secure” network provides access to university systems. It is recommended over the guest network.  It employs encryption and requires you to login with your UNF ID and password.

Networks available only in the Residence Halls:

  • The “Unf-res” network requires you to login and install the policy key.
  • The “Unf-res-secure” network requires you to login and employs encryption and the policy key.

You can use wireless in the residence hall lounges, atriums, and commons areas.  There are 200+ wireless access points throughout campus.

you can see wireless coverage maps of each campus building at http://www.unf.edu/dept/its/wireless/heatmaps.html.
