Understanding Florida LambdaRail
The Florida LambdaRail (FLR) was created to advance the research, education, and economic development activities in the State of Florida by utilizing next generation network technologies, protocols, and services. The FLR is complementary to the National LambdaRail (NLR) initiative, a national high-speed research network initiative for research universities and technology companies. The FLR provides opportunities for Florida university faculty members, researchers, and students to collaborate with colleagues around the world on leading edge research projects. The FLR also supports the State of Florida’s economic development and high-tech aspirations. FLR puts Florida universities on equal footing with best research institutions in the nation.
With FLR, students, faculty, and staff enjoy a much faster Internet connection. Prior to our joining FLR, UNF had 36 megabits per second. Now, the campus community has 1,500 megabits per second speed of Internet access. Visit http://www.unf.edu/dept/its/flr/ for more information on Florida LambdaRail. Visit http://www.unf.edu/dept/its/tipweek/index_facstaff.html for other technology tips.
