Information Technology Services:
MemorandumS of Understanding

Some departments and Colleges have unique needs that cannot be met by the standard Service Level Agreement (SLA). For these customers, Information Technology Services will add a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to the SLA, designed to ensure that each College's or department's special projects are given the services they need. MOUs are kept on file in the main office of ITS.

An MOU can address specific needs of a department such as its hours of operation, responsibilities that the department wishes to undertake, assistance the department may need from ITS for installation of software and software updates. If a department plans to purchase additional servers to support a new project, an MOU might state where the server would be housed, what additional support the servers might need, such as backups, and any other issues, such as appropriate electrical power and UPS, that may be required. If a department is planning to build a computer lab, the MOU may specify the specific things that the department would provide, such as appropriate furnishings, and that ITS would provide, such as appropriate Ethernet cabling.

Since each departments goals and available resources are different, each MOU will be be a reflection of the department's goals and projects, tailored to meet its needs.
