NERDC

To Login to NERDC:
Type in the initial NERDC password, the original will be their first and last initials followed by the last four digits of their Social Security number. Then hit TAB to get to the next line.
Type in your new NERDC password and hit TAB to get to the retype password line.
Retype your password and then hit Enter.
Black Screen that says they are logged in:
When new accounts are created it sometimes takes NERDC a bit longer to complete the setup of new accounts. To get past this black screen of death have the user hit either break or clear and then type in "IS20." This should get them to the menu screen.
No Menus:
When new accounts are created it sometimes takes NERDC a bit longer to complete the setup of new accounts. If there are no options to select on the Main Menu and their supervisor has already requested them tell the user to be patient the menus will be processed by the end of the week. If they have not requested the appropriate menus then they can request them through UNF Local Applications.
No IP Address:
If you open the Nerdc Icon and get a totally black screen without ever logging in then there is some problem connecting to the Nerdc server.
If you are in Windows 95 or Windows 98: Go to the Start button and select Run. Type in "winipcfg" and click on OK. If there is an IP address listed then there is a problem with Nerdc and you need to contact the Help Desk at 620-HELP. If the IP address field reads 0.0.0.0 then the adapter address needs to be added to the bootp table. You will need to contact the Help Desk and provide them with the hardware address and the last five digits of the decal number off the machine.
Printing:
If you are connecting to NERDC via WS 3270, then the program limitations will limited the way you can connect to the printer. WS 3270 is a shareware program and will therefore only print to LPT 1. This means that their default printer MUST be on LPT 1 if you are using the print screen function in WS 3270. If this is not setup this way, correct the problem. If this is something that needs to be permanent, then you may want to talk to a network administrator to get that queue captured to the appropriate port in their login script.
If you are connecting to NERDC via PC3270, then you will need to go to the File Menu, Printer Setup, and make sure the appropriate printer is selected.
If you are trying to print as a function of NERDC, i.e. pressing F10 instead of clicking Print screen, then you are printing to a queue that resides on the NERDC system. In this case you will need to contact the Help Desk (620-HELP) to check the queues for you.
