Pre-Tax Benefits
Pre-Tax benefit premiums are deducted from the employee's paycheck prior to tax deductions - reducing the employee's taxable income. Having insurance premiums deducted pre-tax is a benefit in itself, reducing the amount of taxes an employee must pay. Post-Tax Benefits
Post-Tax benefit premiums are deducted from the employee's paycheck after tax deductions have been taken out. While these benefits do not have the same tax-saving benefits as pre-tax benefits, post-tax benefits allow employees greater flexibility in their ability to enroll, change or terminate their benefits at any time.
