Registration Information

How do I register for classes?

Students can register for classes via the internet or in person in the Registrar's Office. Directions for registration are available on the UNF website. We strongly encourage students to use the web for registration.

Can I take another course at another institution while enrolled at UNF?

Yes, students may be concurrently enrolled at UNF and another accredited institution during the same semester. A Concurrent Enrollment Form must be completed and approved by an academic advisor. This approved form ensures that the course you take will transfer back to UNF for credit. If the approved Concurrent Enrollment Form is not on file in the Registrar's Office in advance of enrolling in the transfer course, UNF will not accept the credit. Students are not allowed to be concurrently enrolled in their last semester at UNF.

Will I be required to take a certain amount of course work every semester?

No. All students should decide for themselves their appropriate course load based on personal and career obligations. Students may take from 1 to 20 semester hours in any given term. Overload approval from the Dean's Office is required for 21 or more semester hours. Some students may need to maintain full–time status for a variety of reasons (such as financial aid, Veteran's Affairs, insurance, etc.) and must register for at least 12 hours each semester. Please visit an advisor, Financial Aid, or Veteran's Affairs prior to registration to find out your specific needs.

Degree Evaluation

Can I meet with an advisor to help me decide on a major?

Academic advising is designed to aid students in their first two years of college. Advisors are available to discuss possible options for majors and minors. In addition, students should seek guidance from the Career Services Office (building 2) in order to decide a major. Appointments are required to meet with a Career Counselor in Career Services, however, walk-ins are welcome to peruse the library of materials or ask general questions.

How do I create a Degree Evaluation?

A student can get a Degree Evaluation two ways. First, the student can email the Honors Advisor with his/her name, N Number, and intended major. Once the advisor has the information, she will create the document and email the student back when it has been completed (usually within 2-3 days). The student can then come into the office to have the document explained to them. Second, the student can come into the Honors Office and meet with the Advisor.

How do I access my Program of Study?

Programs of Study can be accessed through Osprey Online. Once you log on to Osprey Online, choose Program of Study on the left column under Academic Information.

How do I update/correct my Degree Evaluation?

If you notice that your Degree Evaluation does not accurately reflect your course completions (for example, your Honors English class doesn't show up in the English section), contact Heather either through email or by coming into the Honors Office.

Can I major in Pre–med or Pre–law?

Pre–medical and Pre–law studies at UNF are not academic majors, rather they are programs designed to enhance the learning experience of students planning to go on to law school, allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, podiatry, optometry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine. All students must still choose a major from the approved list of majors offered in the College of Arts and Sciences or other academic colleges at UNF. The Pre-law and Pre-Medical programs provide assistance with selection of appropriate preparatory courses, admissions test preparation and applications to professional schools. They are directed by faculty specializing in the disciplines. Interested students should consult the UNF web pages for additional information.
