Karen J. Stone

Vice President and General Counsel

Karen Stone is Vice President and General Counsel for the University of North Florida. Prior to joining UNF in 1992, Ms. Stone served as an Associate General Counsel for the University of Florida. Prior to beginning her career in education law in 1988, Ms. Stone was engaged in the private practice of law and also served as Corporate Counsel for Athletic Attic Marketing, an international franchising company of sporting goods stores.

Ms. Stone earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, with high honors, from the University of Florida. She thereafter earned a Master of Arts degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.

Richard W. "Rick" Buck

Associate General Counsel

Richard W. "Rick" Buck joined the Office of the General Counsel in May 2007. Rick came to UNF from LawTech, LLC, a Jacksonville law firm that he founded in 1999 to focus on computer and technology law. Prior to LawTech, Rick practiced law in both small and national law firms and in the Legal Department of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc. During this time, his practice focused on corporate and securities transactions and related commercial technology matters.

Rick earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Cornell University in 1986 and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Florida in 1993. He earned a Juris Doctor degree, with honors, in 1993 from the University of Florida College of Law.

Rick is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, who has lived in Florida since 1986. He and his wife Barbara have two sons.

Marcus L. "Marc" Snow, Jr.

Associate General Counsel

Marcus L. "Marc" Snow, Jr. joined the Office of the General Counsel in August 2004. Marc came to UNF from the University of South Florida where his primary responsibility consisted of labor and employment issues and student civil rights. Prior to USF, Marc was in private practice in both small and national law firms where his concentration was labor and employment law, civil rights and disability issues related to the Americans with Disabilities Act and associate laws. Marc is active in the Florida Bar's Labor and Employment Law Section and serves on its Executive Council. He is also a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the Academy of Academic Personnel Administrators as well as other professional and civic organizations.

Marc earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in General Business Administration from the University of South Florida in 1983 and a Bachelors of Arts from USF in Finance in 1984. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1991 from the University of Florida College of Law.

Marc is a native of Fort Myers, Florida. He and his wife, Cheryl, have three sons.

P. Christopher "Chris" Wrenn

Associate General Counsel

P. Christopher "Chris" Wrenn joined the Office of the General Counsel in June 2004. Prior to joining UNF, he was Real Estate Group Leader of the Legal Department of Winn Dixie Stores, Inc., where he practiced for 13 years. Prior to his employment at Winn Dixie, Chris engaged in a general business practice with the Jacksonville law firm of Boyd & Jenerette.

Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Stetson University in 1981 and his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law in 1984. He was awarded a Master of Arts degree in English by the University of North Florida in 2003.

Chris is a native of Winter Park, Florida. He and his wife, Mary, have two sons.

Stephanie C. Howell

Coordinator, Research Services and Certified Paralegal

Stephanie C. Howell joined the Office of the General Counsel as Coordinator, Research Services, in February 2005. Prior to joining UNF, she worked as a litigation paralegal at the firm of McGuire Woods, LLP.

Ms. Howell earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science, in Legal Administration, from the University of West Florida in 1993 and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Troy State University in 1998. She received certification as a nationally certified paralegal in 1996.

Ms. Howell has been a member of the Northeast Florida Paralegal Association and a delegate of the Florida Alliance of Legal Assistants and Paralegals. She was a case researcher and writer for the Florida Jury Verdict Reporter.
