Project Overview - Dissemination

The dissemination plan for the project focused on these main avenues:

U.S./international: The U.S./international avenue included the five following activities: (1) a project report for ALO, (2) a monograph to be written and published by UNF faculty, (3) a project report posted on the FLAWI website (http://www.unf.edu/dept/flawi), (4) follow-up articles in academic journals, and (5) one presentation at a health conference for nurses and other presentations at conferences held by other educational organizations.

Senegal: The dissemination in Senegal centered on three conferences in Dakar: (1) the first, on the community college concept to provide a framework for the health program, was held in November 2001 in Dakar; (2) the second was held in March 2003 in Bambey to present the results of the ALO/UDC grant; and (3) the third , focusing on community college curriculum and its articulation potential with other institutions in high education, was held at the American Cultural Center in Dakar for university administrators and faculty as well as secondary school administrators. The presenters at the conferences included faculty participants from the UNF College of Health, FCCJ administration, faculty from Bambey District, and from the CUR.
At the Bambey conference, interpreters from the community were used to present the material appropriately to the different groups involved in the project. The material was translated into French and Wolof for the benefit of the notables and invited attendees who came as representatives of the Bambey District and as representatives of their regions where the same project model, combining education and community health, might be applied.
