The creation of the Financial Systems Department resulted from a desire to provide a cohesive support strategy to meet the on-going needs of Sungard's Banner Finance here at the University of North Florida. Frequent comments by core users of Banner Finance indicating frustration because of a lack of a single location to get answers, information, and reports existed. In addition, there are a number of changes which occur on a daily, quarterly, and annual basis which are required and in many cases need a broad organizational perspective. Finally, a single group was needed to begin to extend available, delivered Banner Finance functionality not currently being utilized.
