Guidelines for Students Receiving Assistance from The DRC

  1. Meet your academic advisor prior to each semester's registration. If you need asistance in making this appointment contact the DRC office. Have your advisor assist in completing your class schedule request.

  2. If you need assistance with on-line registration, contact the DRC office at least three days in advance of your registration appointment. It will be your responsibilityto obtain permission signatures if necessary for course registration.

  3. Supply the DRC office with a copy of your fee statement at the beginning of each semester to verify your student status and to insure you of the services requested. Complete an accommodation request form for any services you are warranted by your documentation. (Remember, we will not send letters to your instructors inforaming them of your special accommodations unless we receive your fee statement and your accommodation request completed and signed.

  4. Report any changes in address or telephone number immediately.

  5. Notify a DRC staff regarding any change in your class schedule or room assignment. It is vital to have this information in the event of an emergency.

  6. Attend all classes and be punctual. If you are scheduled to have an interpreter and you must miss or be late for class, notify the DRC office immediately so that your interpreter can be notified.

  7. If, due to the nature of your disability, you find it necessary to take an exams in the Disability Resource Center office, notify the DRC office five days in advance of the exam date. Inform your professors that it is their responsibility to arrange for delivery and retrieval of exams.

  8. If you disability necessitates reader services, submit all reading assignments at least one week in advance of the date you need them.

  9. If you disability necessitates interpreter services, submit all requests for interpreters three days in advance of the assignment date.

  10. Make an appointment to see the DRC Director concerning any problems that affect your college work.

  11. Meet with your instructors on a regular basis to monitor your progress.
