Staff

Ida Gropper - Director
Ida served under Information Technology Services as the University of North Florida's Technical Training Coordinator 1996-2003. She was appointed Director of the Center for Professional Development and Training July 1, 2003. Ida’s previous experience includes serving as professor and chairperson for the Information Technology Department at the Wolfson Campus of Miami-Dade Community College from 1985-1996. In 1993 Ida became the first recipient of the Nunez Endowed Teaching Chair. She has earned a master's degree in Education from Florida International University and a specialist degree in Computer Education from Barry University.

Ronda Mitchell - Assistant Director
Ronda has been with CPDT since 2003 coming to us from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida where she served as the Faculty/Staff Training Coordinator since 1996. She is a Microsoft Office User Specialist at the Master Level and also an authorized instructor of Microsoft products. Ronda has extensive experience in course design, development and delivery of both technical and soft skill programs. She holds a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey and master's degree in Adult Education from the University of North Florida.

Jim Starr - Training Specialist
Jim has worked as training specialist with CPDT since August, 2004. Jim serves as primary designer and support of CPDT Training web pages. He is the primary content administrator for the department's Luminis presence. Jim provides graphic design support to the department and serves as primary instructional designer for the training curriculum utilizing video, screen capture and Camtasia technologies. Jim earned his bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of North Florida in the summer of 2007.

Emily Stalvey - Training Assistant
Emily started with CPDT in December, 2007. She is a Jacksonville native and an alumni of the University of North Florida as of May, 2007. She is currently seeking a masters degree in Applied Sociology at UNF. In the future, Emily plans on using her UNF degrees and her experience with CPDT to pave the way for a career in higher education or consulting. As CPDT's training assistant, Emily serves as the first point of contact for all CPDT customers, assisting them with course registration and general inquiries, as well as coordinating the logistics for our training courses with accuracy, efficiency, and courtesy.

Karla Calliste-Edgar - Budget Assistant
Karla joined the CPDT team in February, 2007 and holds a bachelor's degree in Child & Family Studies from Syracuse University in upstate New York. She earned her Director's Credential certification serving as the director at Kindercare Learning Center in Mandarin and then Primrose School of Fleming Island. Karla is the first point of contact for all CPDT customers, and provides support for registration and scheduling inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
