Director's Message
As the summer winds down and we all begin getting ready for the fall term, CPDT would like to share with you the following news items:
- CPDT announces a new training lab at UNF Hall. The UNF Hall lab is located in Room 115 and houses 24 participant stations along with an instructor's station, projector and printer. This new lab replaces the previous training lab at the University Center, Room 1059 and will be used by both CPDT and ELP. If you are interested in reserving this lab for your department, visit "How do I reserve a training lab?" on CPDT's Web page.
- CPDT offers department-specific training. Many departments are taking advantage of the opportunity to include training within their department meetings or retreats and to have training tailored to meet specific department needs. Examples of department-specific training recently offered by CPDT include: Excellent Customer Service to One Stop Services, Time Management to Auxiliary Services and Microsoft Windows training to Physical Facilities. If you are interested in scheduling department-specific training, contact CPDT at training@unf.edu.

SkillSoft Online Learning
Did you know that you can sign on to SkillSoft through the myWings Portal? That's right! Through a partnership with CPDT and Information Technology Services everyone at UNF with a valid "N" number can sign into SkillSoft. The link to sign into SkillSoft is available on certain tabs depending on your role at UNF. All faculty, staff and students can find this link within the Quick Links channel provided on your role's tab.

Can't find a course you're looking for? CPDT has created a web page with course numbers to popular Microsoft courses within SkillSoft. You may also find courses by accessing the entire SkillSoft catalog. If you have any questions about SkillSoft you can either visit CPDT's SkillSoft web page or email training@unf.edu.

Meet the Trainer

Darrin Parker, Purchasing Department |
Trainer: Darrin Parker
What department are you with?
Purchasing.
What is your job title?
Purchasing Coordinator.
How long have you been with UNF?
I have been at UNF for 11 years.
What training session do you teach?
Creating a Requisition.
What are your hobbies?
I love outdoor activities (from team sports to fishing). I also like reading, playing the piano and just spending quality time with family and friends.
What do you like most about training at UNF?
I like meeting and interacting with people outside of the normal means (via e-mail or phone). You learn a lot more about each other face to face.
What is your most memorable accomplishment at UNF?
There’s not any one thing that stands out in particular. Being directly involved with many groundbreaking initiatives (Online Ordering, Minority Business Enterprise Program, UNF’s 1ST P-Card Program) and having the opportunity to work with others on a wide range of projects has made for a number of memorable experiences and accomplishments.

Ask the Trainer - How a Wheel Can Improve Your Onscreen Vision
by Ronda Mitchell
If your mouse has a wheel, you probably use it to scroll up and down through lengthy worksheets. But, do you know that you can also use it to change the zoom percentage for your view of the worksheets and other documents?
To do so, hold down the [Ctrl] key and move the scroll wheel. Rolling the wheel down decreases the zoom percentage and rolling it up increases the zoom percentage. Note that if you’re using Excel 2000, the zoom will only go up to 100 percent.
If you would rather have your mouse wheel zoom by default, choose Tools | Options from the menu bar, switch to the General tab, and then select the Zoom On Roll With IntelliMouse check box. After you click OK, rolling the wheel zooms and rolling the wheel while holding the [Ctrl] key scrolls up and down the worksheet or document.

Ask Information Technology Services: What are some of the recent improvements to myWings?
by Alison Cruess
myWings (http://mywings.unf.edu) is the web “portal,” providing UNF students, faculty and staff a single, secure point of entry to UNF web-based resources and timely information tailored specifically for and by each user. The myWings web portal makes it easy to find and organize information to meet your specific needs. Recently, Information Technology Services has made some notable additions to myWings.
One of these improvements is the Quick Links channel. The Quick Links channel, available under the Academics/Students, Faculty/Advisors, and Employees tabs, provides direct links into frequently used resources such as Blackboard, ITS Self Service, SkillPort, and Wall Street Journal Online, without the need for an additional login.
Students, faculty, and staff can quickly view their email by clicking on the email link in myWings. After logging in to myWings, click on the email icon located in the upper right-hand corner or use the email link in the Quick Links channel. Web Access will open into another browser window. If you log out of Web Access by clicking on the “Log Off” button, you will be logged out of myWings also. If you close the Web Access window by clicking on the red ‘X’, you will remain logged into myWings. Visit http://www.unf.edu/dept/its/email/mywings_email.html for more information.
myUNFID is a new application available on the front page of the myWings portal and currently complements ITS Self Service. It can be found by clicking on the "What is my UNF Login ID and password?" link on the myWings login. myUNFID enables myWings access for student applicants and former students who do not have a UNF network account and therefore are unable to use ITS Self Service to manage their UNF ID. Former students and applicants can find their UNF ID, change their password, and after doing so, can login to myWings. myUNFID also allows current students and employees to lookup their UNF ID, however, it will send the person to ITS Self Service if the account already exists on the UNF network. Please visit http://www.unf.edu/anf/tip/tip05_21_07.html for more information.
Students, faculty, and staff can see a list of their Blackboard courses in the myBlackboard channel in myWings. They can click on a course or announcement to access it. The myBlackboard channel is available on the ‘Academics/Students’ tab for students and staff and on the ‘Faculty/Advisors’ tab for faculty. The myBlackboard channel is located directly below the ‘Quick Links’ channel in both areas.
