**The CPS building block is not compatible with Blackboard 9, so the registration process for instructors and students, and the process for uploading grades to Blackboard has changed. Please review instructions below carefully. Existing usernames and passwords will still work, and student purchase of Lifetime Registration will be honored.
Adopting CPS
To adopt CPS please complete the steps below, You may contact CIRT with any questions; we will guide you through the adoption, training, and course setup process.
- Complete adoption form in myWings for all classes in which you will use clickers by the semester deadline. (December 4 for the Spring 2010 semester)
Go to Faculty Self-Service > Request Using CPS E-Instruction.
- Include the student clicker in your textbook order to the bookstore.
(ISBN 978-1-881483-71-7).
- Create a new class in your database.
Directions for creating classes
- Notify students, by email and/or inclusion in the course syllabus, about the use of clickers in the class, registration instructions, and their Class Key (obtained in #3 above). There is sample language available at the bottom of this page for your use.
- Register your clicker in the course, if desired, by following the student directions. This will require you to set up a separate account under the student login.
- If desired export grades from CPS for upload to the Blackboard Grade Center.

Other useful information:
Students buy clickers from the bookstore; the cost is $22.50. Students also need to activate the clicker each semester. This is done through CPS Online and the cost is $13 per semester, or they may purchase Lifetime activation for $35.(Lifetime limit of $39, after which there is no fee for activation).
Activation codes may be purchased through the bookstore for students using scholarship funds, but the cost may be higher.The bookstore will buy clickers back from students at the end of the semester.

CPS Pad Required
This course will be using the eInstruction student response system. You will need to purchase a clicker (ISBN 978-1-881483-71-7) from the bookstore and bring it with you to every class session.The cost of the clicker is $22.50 and there is a $13 activation fee. The purchase of a CPS pad is NOT optional; it will be used as an integral part of this course. I will provide a short demonstration of how to use CPS in class.
Note: Students should purchase ONLY ONE “CLICKER” because the same unit can be used in every class that chooses to use the CPS system.
