This seminar offers an opportunity for faculty members to redesign a traditional course for online delivery via UNF's Blackboard Learning System. The intensive five-day seminar will run on the dates listed above, from 9am to 4 pm. Topics to be covered include: course design, effective instruction in the online environment, content chunking, communication, and online assessment. Participants examine course objectives and learning activities for the selected course and complete a conversion/redesign process. The seminar and its activities are based on an instructional model developed by the SUNY Learning Network to guide the development of online courses.
This seminar is open to full-time faculty. Eight faculty members will be selected. Applications are due by March 31, 2008 and will be reviewed by the Distance Learning Committee and CIRT staff. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by April 11, 2008.

Courses submitted for redesign should meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant has already taught the course in a traditional setting.
  • The course is an upper-division elective course that does not enroll more than 30 students.
  • The department has agreed to offer the course online during the Fall 2008 or Spring 2009 semesters.
  • If a required course, it will also be available in other sections.
