Nancy Levine, English Department
|
Dr. Nancy Levine wanted the syllabus for her AML3102 course to be more engaging and useful for students, so she consulted with CIRT on both form and function. After discussion, she decided to make the syllabus an integrated part of her Blackboard site rather than a separate document for students to download. Dr. Levine used tables to create a clear schedule of the course for students, and included helpful web links with assignment descriptions.
She also added rubrics to the syllabus which gave clearer expectations for assignments. Dr. Levine started by preparing the syllabus in Microsoft Word, which allowed her to set up tables, control formatting and insert hyperlinks. She saved her Word document as html and pasted that into a new content area in her Bb site. The result? A syllabus "page" in Blackboard which is fully integrated into the course site and has been useful to instructor and students. |
