Please Note: This tool was replaced by Journal LX after the Fall 2006 semester.

The Online Journal is a tool to track student's daily activity and encourage reflective learning. The Online Journal is private and can only be read the student and the instructor. The Online Journal chronologically archives all the entries and comments in one scrollable screen in your students' Blackboard.

To read a student’s journal and give comments:

Click Online Journal on the Control Panel:

Click on a student’s User ID to view their journal:

Type comments in the box and click Add Comment (Your comment will be visible to the student as soon as you hit Add Comment button):

Please Note: Allowing students the option to edit provides more flexibility. Instead of having students create a new entry each time, they can instead continually edit one entry and add thoughts throughout the semester.

To allow students the option to edit, click on Preferences on the Online Journal page:

Click Yes next to Edit and click Save Changes:
