HELPFUL RESOURCES>BLACKBOARD>BLACKBOARD TOOLS GLOSSARY>OFFLINE CONTENT

Offline content includes any supplemental content provided to the student outside of the Blackboard environment that can be accessed through a Blackboard course. Offline content is not uploaded to the Blackboard server; it is usually stored on a disk or a shared network drive.

Most content used in Blackboard is added directly to content areas of the course. However, many instructor and educational content providers store some memory intense multimedia content outside of Blackboard. The offline content is then provided to the student for immediate access, without the excessive waiting involved in downloading files.

Instructors add a link to Offline Content through a Content Area of a course. With the Edit Mode On, click Build>Link to Offline Content.
