How do I backup materials in a course scheduled for deletion?

Course materials in a course scheduled for deletion may be copied into a development (DEV) course for future use.

1. Request a Blackboard DEV course using the Blackboard Course Action Request (BbCAR) system.

2. Copy the course materials from the course to be deleted into the new DEV course.

Request a Blackboard DEV course using the Blackboard Course Action Request (BbCAR) system.

  1. Log into Blackboard, http://blackboard.unf.edu, and click on the BbCAR tab.

  2. Click Course Request, then Request a Term Course.

  3. Select the Number of courses you wish to create. Click Submit.

Note: DEV courses are created on the Blackboard server http://blackboard.unf.edu once the course request process is complete.

Copy the course materials from the course to be deleted into the new DEV course.

To create an Export File in the course from which you wish to copy:

  1. Go to the Control Panel of the course from which you wish to copy.
  2. Click Export Course under Course Options.

  3. Click Export to create an Export file. For a package to serve as an exact record, including user records, use Archive instead of Export.

  4. Select materials to include in the export package. Click Submit to begin the Export process. You will receive an email once this process is complete.

  5. Click Export Course from the Control Panel of the course. You will see a File Download link. Click the link to download the Export file, then click Save to save it to your computer.

  6. Select a location to which you will save the file. Click Save.

To Import the file into the current course:

  1. Go to the Control Panel Menu of the course to which you wish to copy.
  2. Click Import Package/View Logs under Packages and Utilities.

  3. Click Import Package.

  4. Click Browse to locate the file on your computer. Click Open to add the file.

    Choose File
  5. Select materials to include in the import process.

  6. Click Submit. The import process will start and an email will be sent once the process is complete.
