HELPFUL RESOURCES >BLACKBOARD>FAQ>MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS How should I use Multiple Attempts to insure all students are able to complete an assessment? The Multiple Attempts feature in Blackboard allows students to attempt an assessment more than one time (either a designated number or an unlimited number of attempts). Once the assessment is deployed, students will be able to attempt the assessment twice, but their first score will be scored in the Gradebook. In the event that a student loses their connection to Blackboard during an assessment, they can retake the assessment and notify you that they lost their connection during their first attempt and need their second attempt scored. Please note: You should consider your policies for using the Multiple Attempts feature carefully before the semester starts and include appropriate language in your course syllabus and/or instructions for each assessment on Blackboard. This is especially important if you will limit multiple attempts to once or twice a semester per student. Sample Language: Each student will be allowed one second attempt on an assessment this semester. It is up to the instructor's discretion to score the second attempt on an assessment. Although two attempts are allowed on each assessment, only the first attempt will be scored, unless a student emails the instructor with a detailed description of the connectivity loss including: time and date of the connection loss and a description of exactly what occurred. All students should consider taking their assessments on a stable Internet connection or on campus to diminish the chances of losing connectivity to Blackboard during an assessment. Under no circumstances should a student leave a test, minimize the test, open an Internet browser window or other applications during a test or the connection to Blackboard may be lost.
