HELPFUL RESOURCES >BLACKBOARD>FAQ>GRADEBOOK ERROR MESSAGE I received an error message in the Gradebook stating "courseUserIDs cannot be null or empty." What should I do? The condition occurs when viewing the Gradebook for a class that has multiples of 25 students. Blackboard incorrectly makes an additional page of the Gradebook available, even though there are no students listed on it. This causes the error: "courseUserIds cannot be null or empty". This also causes a problem when an instructor goes back and forth between Gradebooks in his courses, because Blackboard remembers which Gradebook page number you last viewed and tries to open the Gradebook to that page the next time you view a grade book. If you view the Gradebook in a course that does not have a multiple of 25 students and then go to the Gradebook of a course that does have a multiple of 25 students, you may get the error message. This is because the grade book tries to open to a page that it thinks is there, but really is not. If you encounter this problem by clicking on the "Next>>" page button in the Gradebook, use the browser's "Back" button to return to the prior page in the Gradebook. If you encounter this problem when navigating from one course's Gradebook to another, return to the course that has the multiple of 25 students and choose page 1 of the Gradebook. Then, when you go to the Gradebook of the course that does not have multiple of 25 students, the Gradebook will default to page 1, which always works. |
