HELPFUL RESOURCES >BLACKBOARD>FAQ>FILE TYPES TO UPLOAD TO BLACKBOARD

What types of files are you able to upload to Blackboard?

Blackboard does not restrict the type of files that you may upload, however, the file type you use will affect how your students are able to view your files. If you upload files created in software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, your students will have to have access to the software program or to a viewer program in order to view the file.

One way to avoid this problem is to upload files in commonly used file types such as .html or .pdf. Please contact CIRT for assistance in preparing files for Blackboard.

While Blackboard will allow you to upload multimedia file types including .mp3, .avi, .mov, etc., we strongly suggest that you request help from CIRT in encoding your videos for streaming on the Real Server at UNF. The streaming server will allow students to view your content from various connection speeds without first downloading large files and will dissuade students from copying the content for personal use or distribution.
