HELPFUL RESOURCES>BLACKBOARD>TOOLS>BBCAR BbCAR (Blackboard Course Action Request) is a Blackboard Building Block created by Information Technology Services at the University of North Florida which provides instructors with tools to request Blackboard courses (term, group and development) and users (external and guest). The latest release of BbCAR also gives instructors tools to enable users in courses. Instructor users may access BbCAR from the BbCAR tab of Blackboard and from within the Course Tools area of the Control Panel of a Blackboard course. The BbCAR tab allows instructors to request courses and users. BbCAR in the Control Panel of a course allows instructors to enable users in the course. Request Courses Term Course - a Term Course is a term-based course listed in UNF Course Schedule. The student enrollment in Term Courses is automatic, updated from the University's Student Records (registration) system. Instructions Group Course - a Group Course is a course created for use by departments, clubs or other special groups. Group Courses are not limited to use during a specific term and user enrollment in a Group Course is manual, updated by the instructor user(s) in the Group Course. Instructions Dev Course - a Dev course is a course used by an individual user to develop content or to become familiar with Blackboard, to prepare a site for a term-based course which is not yet listed in the UNF Course Schedule, or to act as a content library in which course materials can be stored and later copied into other Blackboard courses. Dev courses are not limited to use during a specific term and the requestor of the Dev course is enrolled in the course upon creation. Please note that a DEV course is not intended for use as a live site (with other users actively participating). You can copy the content from your DEV course into a term-based or group course site to make the content available to the participants in the term-based or group site. Instructions Instructor Guest Account - an Instructor Guest Account is an account associated with an Instructor that may be enrolled in a course to preview the student view of a course or may be used by someone other than the instructor or students in a course to gain access to the course. Instructions External User - an External User is a Blackboard user account for an individual not associated with UNF that needs access to the Blackboard System at UNF. Examples of External Users include Guest Lecturers, Community Members, Instructors at other Universities, etc. Instructions This feature allows instructors to manually control users in a Blackboard course. Enrollment of students in term-based courses is controlled by a snapshot process that updates the Blackboard course enrollment based on the current course roster in MyWings. However, the Enable Users feature allows instructors to manually control the enrollment of students in a course by overriding students disabled in a course by the snapshot process. Instructions |
