Mark as Read and Mark as Unread Instructors may mark threads of discussion as Read or Unread in the Course Discussions view of the Discussion Board:
Instructors may also mark threads as Read or Unread in the Collections view of the Discussion Board:
The Search area has been rolled up into a graphic icon of a magnifying glass. Selecting this icon will drop down the search area. Within the Search tool, it is now possible to search by time.
Instructors now have the option to allow students to Subscribe to a forum or to individual threads. The Subscription Options are set on the Modify Forum page:
To subscribe to a forum, users click on the Subscribe button at the top of the Course Discussions page:
Once subscribed to a forum, users may unsubscribe by clicking the Unsubscribe button at the top of the Course Discussions page:
Instructors now have the option to allow users to quote text from a post when replying to the post. To allow users to quote text in a Discussion Board Forum, check the box next to Allow users to reply with quote on the Modify Forum page (either when creating a new forum or by clicking Modify next to an existing forum):
To quote text in the Discussion Board, click the Quote button on the action bar of a post. The text quoted from the original post is included within the Message text box on the Reply to Post page:
Tagging is a method of assigning descriptive keywords to online content. In the Discussion Board, Instructors may add descriptive tags to threads on the Collection page view of a forum. To setup Tagging in a forum, check the box next to Allow post tagging on the Modify Forum page:
To apply tags to a thread or threads, instructors must first collect a group of threads in a forum using the Collect icon (first check the box next to each thread you wish to collect):
Once on the Collection page, an instructor may apply tags to a thread or group of threads by checking the box next to the desired threads and typing the text into the Tag box. Click Go to apply the tag.
The tag displays at the bottom of the Thread View on the Collections page and in the Tags column on the Course Discussions page:
Students may read, filter, and search threads using the tags, but may not create new tags:
Instructors now have the option to set Forum Availability date and time restrictions on the Modify Forum page:
