PARENT ORGANIZATION ACTIVITIES

The Parent Organization has special activities planned for November and December. The regular November meeting is scheduled for 11/3. There will be a Night Walk on 11/13 at the Nature Trails. The group will gather at 6:00 for a pizza supper then walk around the lake with the ranger when it gets dark. There will be no regular Parent Organization meeting in December but there will be a Pottery Night on December 4th. Pink Flamingo will bring pottery pieces for the children to paint. They will take and fire them and return them to the CDRC. There are many pieces to choose from and this activity provides great gifts for grandparents. Watch for more information to follow.

PARENT -TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent - Teacher Conferences will be held 11/16-11-20. There will be a sign-up sheet in each classroom to schedule a time to meet with your child's teacher. If you are unable to schedule a meeting, a copy of the assessment will be available to you.

HOLIDAY HOUSE

The CDRC Holiday House will be held 11/30-12/4. For a minimum $5.00 donation, your child can visit Holiday House and select a gift for the classroom. Your child will help wrap the present and they will present them to the teacher during the week of December 7th. This is an easy way to shop and also provides your child's classroom with new items to enjoy. Holiday parties will be held 12/10 and 12/11.

CONSCIOUS DISCIPLINE

Commitment is an important part of Conscious Discipline. It can be used with a group of children or by an individual child. A commitment is like making a promise to yourself. Types of commitments used in the classroom are the Safe Keeper Chant, and agreements such as listening ears, kind words, gentle touches, and the right to pass. When using commitment with a child, role play with the child what the commitment would look like. Also praise the child when you actually see him or her following through with the commitment.
