GENERAL
MUSIC, JAZZ STUDIES, AND MUSIC
A major in music requires
a thorough knowledge of music, the ability to interpret
music, and study with an accomplished musician, and a
training at a university in order to acquire the skills
necessary for success. Most people who enter music begin
studying an instrument or voice at an early age. Careers
in music can be grouped into five categories, including
performers/conductors, composers/arrangers, teachers,
historians and therapists. High quality performance in
this field requires constant study, practice and self-discipline.
