They are also responsible for designing and testing
new equipment, developing maintenance schedules, solving
operating systems, writing performance requirements, and
estimating the time and cost of projects. They may specialize in a variety of areas and
usually work in settings such as electronic manufacturing
industries, public utilities, research labs, government
agencies, sites for testing, and colleges and universities.
