engineers usually work in supervisory or administrative
positions. They plan and direct the construction of roads,
bridges, buildings, airports, tunnels, and water supply
and sewage systems. Civil
engineering involves a combination of theoretical knowledge
and practical planning, and is concerned with improving
lifestyle through modification of natural environments
and construction new environments. Others may work in
design, construction, research, and teaching.
The major specializations within this field include
structural, construction, transportation, environmental,
water resources, and geotechnical engineering.
